Are You Making Good Use Of Your Job Search GPS?

“Where there is no revelation (vision),
people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who
heeds wisdom’s instruction.”
Proverbs 29:18

“Without a vision…” What is life without a vision, a goal, a hope, a dream? What is life with only the limitations of the present and nothing to look forward to in the future but more of the same? Can you envision your new job?

Are you heading in the right direction for your job search?

Every self-help guru, every sales incentive plan, every effective sales training plan encourages you to instill an image of what you will get when…you complete the statement. They know the extrinsic value of vision. Whether your vision is a new job, car, boat, house or whatever, they encourage you to plaster those images on your refrigerator, monitor, or wherever you’ll see them often.

Following your Job Search GPS…

God does the same, except His vision for you is different. His vision is not some new toy or trinket; His vision is a new you. He wants you to get a vision of the new you more fully empowered by the Holy Spirit.  His vision is for you to gain a clearer understanding of just how His GPS (God’s Positioning System) will guide you to just the right job for you. He wants you to catch a vision for just how He is working through your job search to transform you, to empower you, to equip you with more of Himself.

He says put these on your refrigerator, mirrors and wherever you’ll see them often as a reminder of who He is and how He is working in you. He did this before you know, with the people of Israel as we see in the following verse:

Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on our foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deut. 6:8,9)

What do you have plastered on your refrigerator, on your mirror?  You may have only done this figuratively and posted them on the bulletin boards of your mind, but they have the same effect.

Consider how you can take down those images and replace them with images of God at work. It’s a worthwhile effort.
