Job Search Resources

Are You Aware of All Your Job Search Resources?

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes,
he will guide you into all the truth.”
John. 16:12

JobSearchResources-JobSearchingCoachIn a job search, the resources you have available to you can make all the difference in whether your search is long or short, effective or ineffective, challenging or gratifying.

Here are some resources that are helpful when conducting your search.

Resource tools to help you:

  • Know yourself: Assessment tools and other instruments that help you know the strengths, traits, skills, etc. you have to offer are foundational.
  • Write your résumé: Tools that help you write your accomplishments, craft a summary statement, format your résumé in an eye-pleasing manner are essential.
  • Locate opportunities: Tools and techniques that help you know where to look, who to contact, and how to use the information and find job opportunities are very beneficial.
  • Prepare for interviews: Tools and techniques that help you prepare to answer questions, ask questions, do research, prepare an agenda can prove invaluable.

The other, and most important resource…

SpiritualToolbox-JobSearchingCoachBut there’s one other tool you have in your toolbox that gives you an added advantage and a spiritual edge in your job search.  That “tool” is the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is a resource few people know how to put to use in their job search.  And what many don’t realize is that the Holy Spirit is at work through the entire process.  We may think to pray and ask for the Holy Spirit’s help when making contacts or during interviews, but He has so much more to offer.

  • He will help you gain insight into yourself and know how to package what you have to offer so it’s appealing to employers.
  • He will help you draft your résumé so you are telling God’s story of how He has worked through your vocational story.
  • He will use opportunities to guide you in the direction He wants you to go, and where you can find fulfillment.
  • He will help you prepare questions and strategies for what you want to learn and need to show interviewers.

You see, the Greek term Christ used to refer to the Holy Spirit was the word Paraclete.  This term literally means to come alongside. The Holy Spirit comes alongside you to help you in the midst of your job search, as in life. And He does it constantly.

Listen for what He might be whispering to your spirit even today, and ask what He has to show you.

Dear Head of the Trinity, You have sent your Spirit to be an ever-present help and guide.  Help me quiet other voices so I can hear Him.
