How a Great Resume’ Is Built
“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
I Cor. 1:31
You try and discern God’s direction as you look to the future in your job search. But did it ever occur to you that He has been guiding, and even using your missteps, and leading you down your own job search road.
The work God began in you, of forming and shaping you before your physical birth, did not end when you were born. It continued with your new birth, and through every day since then.
God has been weaving your résumé, and building your skill set with every job you’ve held. Even now, in your job search, He is doing the same thing. He is building your skills to enable you to make a unique contribution to His adventure.
For this reason, you can boast. Not boast in who you are or what you’ve done, but boast in how He’s made you, boast in what He has accomplished through you. That’s boasting in the Lord.
Have that perspective in your job search. When you speak of your strengths, your skills, and your accomplishments, you are really speaking of the strengths He has given you, the skills He has developed, and what He has accomplished through you. So boast away!
Whether you speak of Him or not, you are still testifying to His work in you, and in many cases, it’s not appropriate to speak of Him during an interview because it may end up offending another’s sensitivities, and that is not honoring to Your Maker either.
You are hand-picked by God, and He is intimately involved in ensuring that your development plan is on track. Whether you impact countries for Him as Joseph did in Genesis, or thousands of individuals, as the apostle Paul did in the New Testament, or just one other person, He is working in and through you.
Boast in that!
