Where Can You Receive Guidance To Find Employment?
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
– Jeremiah 31:3
You are God’s beloved child and as such He has His hand on you and is directing your story. This happens day in and day out whether you are aware of it or not. When you are doing well, and when you’re not. Whether you are succeeding or failing. Whether you are employed or unemployed. Whether your job search appears to be moving forward or not. Take that to heart as encouragement, and just like Joseph was able to faithfully survive slavery and imprisonment, you will also survive your prison of unemployment.
You see, God loves you! Psalm 103:11 gives us an indication just how much when it says,
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.”
Just like two people in love reuniting after a separation, there is a physical shine to their countenances. Just like a parent greeting a deeply beloved child after a day of school, there is a glow to their face. So God’s face shines when he looks at you (Num. 6:25).
You can receive guidance because of who you are…
This is not because of anything you’ve done, or any sin you have avoided (although he rejoices in those also), but because of who you are. You are loved as a favorite in God’s family (and yes, we are all favorites). You are loved because of your new birth in Christ.
So when you look at what’s happening in your job search, when you think of this as a parenthesis in your career, remember it’s all part of God’s story written with your life. Your mistakes or sin, other willful actions or sin, or economic conditions don’t derail His divine plan. He weaves those all together in your résumé to attain His ends.
When will your job search end?
Trust that He will use it all to move you to where He wants you to be. Believe that He is at work and isn’t finished yet. Have faith that a better place is coming, whether it’s tomorrow or down the road, where you can use the skills and abilities He has given you and be more fulfilled. Have faith – It will come!
