Can You Survive Unemployment?
“You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.”
Psalms 139:3
The unemployment figures are staggering.
Job prospects are bleak.
Job listings are dismal.
Is there reason to hope?
Is there reason to believe that you can survive, that you will have a future?
The answer is a resounding, “Yes!”
The need for persective…
Just ask Joseph. Talk about staggering, dismal, and bleak. If personal experience and work history ever called for that perspective, it was his. Not much call to a responsible, fulfilling job when your résumé lists “household servant” for many years. Not too many job opportunities present themselves to someone with a ten year prison record.
But that didn’t bother God. He knew what Joseph was made of and what he had to offer. He knew where He wanted Joseph to serve as a part of His adventure. The answer, Prime Minister of Egypt! “Totally unrealistic” you say? But not for God.
Can your past hold your job search back?
What could a guy, let’s call him Sam, fired from two jobs for having an intimate relationship with a subordinate, and having been accused of third-party sexual harassment expect for a future. Well, God knew Sam also. He knew where He wanted Sam to serve in His adventure, and these two speed-bumps along Sam’s career path did not trip him up. He went on to serve in many diverse organizations and earn a six-figure salary.
What about you? ~ Is your past holding you back? ~ Is there hope for you?
You can bet neither Joseph nor Sam had a clue what was down the road. They were simply trying to survive the pain of the moment.
Maybe you’re in a similar place. Or maybe it’s your struggle to find the right opportunities…
- God hasn’t forgotten you.
- Don’t lose hope.
- Keep the faith.
- He may throw open your prison door any day now also.
